The software is designed to be simple and intuitive ("Mini-Accounting"). It allows you to plan your finances for the entire year with just a few clicks, helping you identify where you can save money and avoiding overspending.
Your data is stored in a single file (extension .mmb). You can copy this file like a Word document to a USB stick and transfer it to the new PC. Install MyMicroBalance there and open the file. Your VIP license key can be reactivated on the new device.
A VIP license and a registered user account in the mobile app are required. On your PC, go to "Online Synchronization" in the main menu and enter the email address and password you use in the app.
Export your data from online banking as a CSV file. In MyMicroBalance, you can import this file via the Import function. The wizard helps you map the columns of your file (e.g., date, amount, description) to the correct fields in the budget book.
The local Smart-Check works offline and checks for logical consistency directly on your PC. The powerful AI Analysis (VIP feature), however, uses external servers for complex evaluations. You actively decide when to use this feature.
VIP functions allow you to filter specific categories in charts. You can also temporarily hide large blocks (like rent) in the legend to better analyze the distribution of remaining expenses.
The free version offers basic graphical analysis. Advanced features like 2D/3D charts, interactive controls (zoom/rotate), and direct monthly comparisons are exclusive VIP features for deeper insights.
Use the detailed monthly view for daily checks or the yearly view to identify long-term trends over 12 months. Certain chart types also allow for a direct comparison with a second time period.
Enter the same login details under "Smartphone Synchronization" on your second computer. MyMicroBalance will then sync both PCs via your central app user account.
With the local Smart-Check, data never leaves your device. For Cloud Assistants (VIP), data is processed only temporarily to generate the answer and is neither stored permanently nor used to train the AI models. See our privacy policy for more details.
If the old version still appears after updating, Windows permissions likely prevented the file overwrite. Solution:

4C:/Program Files/MyMicroBalance.As soon as updates are available, they are provided as a new download on www.MyMicroBalance.com. You can download the setup file on another device, transfer it via USB, and install it to update your software.
You can install the new version directly over your existing 1.x installation. Your files will not be deleted.
Opening old files:
Version 1.x files cannot be opened directly. Instead: Create a new balance in Version 2.0, then go to File -> Import File -> MyMicroBalance 1.0.x to 2.0.
There are no hidden costs per request. You can use the assistants within the monthly request quota provided by your VIP license.
You only need the VIP key on your main computer. No additional in-app subscription is required for synchronization on your smartphone.
If you prefer not to use PayPal, please send us a message via our contact form specifying which key you want to buy. We will send you our bank details. Once payment is received, we will email you the license key.
The license is personal, not device-specific. You may use the key on all your personal computers and laptops, and additionally pair them with your smartphone app.
Unlike an in-app subscription, the PC license simply expires after the purchased period. You automatically fall back to the free Basic version and can decide yourself whether to purchase another license term.
The basic version can be used without time limits or restrictions. For advanced comfort features (VIP) such as data synchronization, special charts, or AI assistants, a paid license key is available.
Your license key is not tied to a specific version number. You can always install the latest updates without losing your VIP status or incurring new costs.
The PC license key unlocks synchronization but not ad-free use in the app, as Apple and Google require separate in-app purchases for this. However, after the first successful synchronization, the app is often offered at a discounted price for unlocking.
Once the license expires, data will no longer sync between devices. However, your existing entries remain stored on both your PC and mobile phone. Syncing resumes as soon as you activate a new license on your PC.
Basic functions and the Smart-Check work offline. A connection is required for the three AI Assistants, as external servers are needed to calculate the responses.
The software is built on the Microsoft .NET Framework and works only on Windows. Mac users can only run it using virtualization software like Parallels or Boot Camp.
The .NET Framework provides the necessary environment for the application to run. MyMicroBalance requires version 4.0 or higher. Most Windows PCs have this installed by default. If not, the installer will prompt you to download it from Microsoft.
MyMicroBalance uses strong encryption to protect your data. To ensure security, there is no "master password" or backdoor. Without your specific password, the data inside the file cannot be decrypted.
This issue is usually caused by a corrupted file (e.g., if the program was closed improperly). Fortunately, MyMicroBalance creates backups automatically.
How to restore: Go to File -> Open Backup and select the most recent file from the backup folder located next to your original file.
If the loading bar freezes, old and new program files are mixed in the installation folder.
If MyMicroBalance interprets amounts incorrectly (e.g., 10.00 instead of 10,00), this is usually due to Windows region settings. In the Control Panel, ensure that the decimal separator is set to comma (,) and the thousands separator to dot (.) (Standard for many European countries).
