Create New File

Subtitle: Start new balance | Set basic file settings

The private accounting software MyMicroBalance stores all data in files that have the file ending .mmb. Your advantage is that you can move these files from one to another computer and make your own backups e.g. on an USB device. Each file can contain an unlimited number of accounts, categories and entries. In addition to this a file is also not limited to a single year means you can store accounting data from several years into a single file.

When you create a new file you have to set some basic settings like choosing a currency and protecting your data with a password. You can change this settings later.

Select a Currency

First step is to choose your domestic currency. The currency can be changed in menu Options -> Currency at any time. It is also possible to select a secondary currency.

Set a password

The next window provides a possibility to enter a password to protect your data. There is also the possibility to ignore the entry of a password, but we recommend to enter a password since your receipts and expenditures are confidential data. Please consider the following hints:

  • To enter a password only use signs like <a to z>, <A to Z>, <0 to 9> and <! " § $ %>.
  • The maximum password length contains 10 signs.
  • Do not use names, date of birth or other passwords which are easy to guess.
  • MyMicroBalance shows you how safe your password protection is.

Important: If you forget your password there is no chance to restore your data!
