Balance Settings control how MyMicroBalance displays the Balance Sheet when you open a file and work with entries. The options mainly affect the initially displayed month, warnings for backdated entries, and category colors.

Open Balance Settings

  1. Open your MyMicroBalance file.
  2. Click Settings in the ribbon.
  3. Select the Balance section.
  4. Open the Balance (Settings) tab.

Choose the month displayed when opening a file

In the Month section, select which month MyMicroBalance should display automatically when you open the budget file.

  • the current month: MyMicroBalance automatically opens the current month.
  • last edited month: MyMicroBalance opens the month in which you most recently worked.

Warn about backdated entries

Enable Warn when entries are created for previous months if MyMicroBalance should display a warning when an entry is assigned to an earlier month. This helps prevent accidental entries in the wrong period.

Highlight categories with colors

In the category-color section, choose whether categories are visually highlighted in the Balance Sheet.

  • Do not colorize categories within balance list: keeps the view neutral.
  • Colorize category text: displays the category names in their assigned colors.
  • Colorize category field background: highlights the complete category field so that it is easier to recognize.

Restore default Balance settings

To reset Balance options, open the Balance (Reset) tab. You can restore the default display settings without deleting the receipts and expenditures stored in your file.

Click OK to apply your changes. Click Cancel to close the dialog without saving them.
