Understand receipts, expenditures, and the balance

  • Receipts: shows the total of all receipts in the selected month. The monthly list contains the date, name, amount, and category for each entry.
  • Expenditures: shows the total of all expenditures in the selected month. This list also contains the date, name, amount, and category.
  • Balance: shows the difference between receipts and expenditures. A positive balance is shown in green and a negative balance in red.
  • Var.: shows the total of variable entries. These are entries with the one-time interval.
  • Fix.: shows the total of regular entries that use a recurring interval.

Use carryover and balance-until-today controls

  • Show Carryover: includes the balance from previous months in the currently selected month. This shows the overall running balance of your budget file.
  • Hide Carryover: shows only the balance produced by receipts and expenditures in the selected month.
  • Show balance till today: limits the calculation in the current month to today. You can use the adjacent date selector to choose another day.

Preview the future balance by hovering

When Show balance till today is enabled for the current month, MyMicroBalance calculates the Balance Sheet only up to the selected day. Move the mouse over one of the large summary panels at the bottom, such as Receipts, Expenditures, or Balance. The information window also shows the total for the complete month, the amount up to today, and the future balance for entries that are still ahead.

This lets you see how much of the month has already been reached and which receipts or expenditures are still due without changing the filter. If no information window appears, make sure that the current month is selected and Show balance till today is enabled.

Show or hide Smart-Checks

Use Show Smart-Checks to control whether the intelligent notes and analyses at the bottom of the Balance Sheet are visible. Clear the checkbox to hide this area and give the receipt and expenditure lists more vertical space.

Hiding Smart-Checks does not change any entries or calculations. It only changes the layout. Select the checkbox again to display the Smart-Checks.
